Mass Effect 3 has been announced and the basic story is that the Geth have finally assaulted earth. Commander Shepard is once again heading the reigns in the final installment of the Mass Effect series. Shepard, though, is out in space doing his/her duty when the Geth assault happens on earth. Will Shepard be able to make it in time to save Earth? Or will the Geth take control?

Also, Composer Clint Mansell, well known for the Requiem for Dream theme will be doing the music for Mass Effect 3. He said he will be doing it like a movie where at certain points the game will trigger certain music. This should really help bring out the quality and tension of a situation in Mass Effect 3 and I for one cannot wait to play it.

I already mentioned this in a previous post but in case you missed it the next game in The Elder Scrolls series has been announced. In the release of Skyrim Bethesda is working with the Creation Engine, which will make a more presentable and realistic set of characters then the previous games. Also NPC interaction is changed, so that NPC’s that do like you will not attack you in a blaze of glory just because you attacked their table or stole something. Bethesda will also use conditionalizing to make missions like assassination more based on where you are and who doesn’t like you.

Skyrim will also include random encounters like those in most RPG’s today including Red Dead Redemption. This will allow for a more random experience then some set of static misisons. There will also be 10 races to choose from, and instead of just editing the face players will also be able to edit the bodies of their characters. You will also have a more realistic type of fighting system including the ability to finally forge your own weapons. Weapon attacks can also be unique as well as finishing moves. You will get over 18 skills to choose from as well as perks to choose from.

Skyrim is set 200 years after Oblivion set in a snow realm north of Cyrodil. The game is set during a civil war and the player is a Dragonborne who has the ability to slay drangs and was trained by the last living Blade. The engine has been improved dynamically to include snow and a multitude of creatures. The thrid person view has also been improved as well as the removal of the headshot NPC speach to make it more realistic.

Well you can expect a battle always between Activision’s Call of Duty series and EA’s Medal of Honor/Battlefield series. EA has took it to a new level this time though releasing the Duty Call’s The Calm Before the Storm game (which is a parody of Call of Duty and somehow related to Bulletstorm). Have to say the trailer did make me laugh, though they didn’t need to do it as Black Ops was giant joke to begin with.

L.A. Noire from Rockstar games, known for the Grand Theft Auto series and of course Red Dead Redemption, will be releasing the 40′s based detective game L.A. Noire. The games basics will be that of a detective working to solve crimes in the 1940′s era. One feature of L.A. Noire is the on point voice acting and face recognition that makes the characters actually show almost perfect face recognition while talking and acting. Some points of the game even make you choose if the person is lying or telling the truth based on their face recognition. I would have even this game is half as good as Red Dead Redemption I will definitely check it out.

Activision has announced that they will no longer continue with the Guitar Hero series. They have cancelled this along with the DJ Hero series and True Crime: Hong Kong due to lack of generating profit. Activision will continue with it’s February update of the Guitar Hero games but after that the games will be cancelled/discontinued. Activision believes they are making much more profit on their other games and DLC’s. This probably means to expect more overly priced Black Ops related DLC’s to increase profit’s on sub-par quality games.

Good news, EA has finally released a trailer and some info on the Battlefield 3 game. For the lucky people like me that purchased the Medal of Honor limited edition you will still be getting access to the Battlefield 3 Beta. Here are some of the features and info about the game:
– Prone and Spotting is back in.
– Dolphin Diving is gone (Thank God)
– The PC version will be able to handle a 64 player server.
– They are revamping the bullet drop system.
– No more stupid tracer darts (woohoo)
– Knives and dogtags will be present.

Stay tuned for more information

The teaser has also been released… though the music reminds me more of something like a metal cyborg going back in time… n/m that’s just silly.

In the 90′s and very early 2000′s there was a company you may have heard of called Midway, who where responsible for certain games such as Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Rampage and a little game called Pac-Man among many others. Midway collapsed while in development of a game called Hero. The developers of this game since then have moved over to a company called Phosphor and continued this game under the name Awakening. The game is centered around a customizable superhero for you to play as. With that i’ll go ahead and leave you with the trailer and i’ll see you next week.

Dragon Age 2 is possibly the most anticipated game to be released this year. The sequel to one of the most top selling RPG’s including many game of the year awards in 2009 is going to include plain and simply improvements over the first one. I personally enjoyed the first one and have played through it probably 10-12 times now and still enjoy it as much as the first time I played it. BioWare has brought in a lot of improvements especially related to combat. The Pause option to all micro managing of all your characters will stay and they have introduced more fluid stance on combat. Now your skills and choices will reflect and combine with that of your companions. They have also improved how combat feels in general, fixing the clunky run around a character or getting stuck problems the first one had, to making things much more fluid and other things like giving rogues a ninja teleport type option to get behind an enemy. This also includes new actions, like a rogue doing a back flip to dodge attacks with more grace and skill. The storytelling has also undergone a revamp.

The developers of Dragon Age Origins believe that what you need to know about this world is done. You know about the Grey Wardens, Ferelden, Orlais and Anaranthium. So in Dragon Age 2 they are looking to increase that to give you a more enriched storyline that doesn’t just include the Grey Wardens. Something that allows a player to immerse themselves deep in a storyline, “It can be about the age of time and the events that shaped the world in this 100-year period.” Also I know there where rumors that you only get a male character. This is untrue, as you will be able to choose class and gender just like the first one. I know if you enjoy rpg’s at all, and if you enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins. You will probably be like me and cannot wait till this is released. If you haven’t pre-ordered you can do so to get the signature edition for no extra cost until the 11th of January, i’ve already ordered mine.

Incase you haven’t seen them, here is the Destiny and Rise to Power trailers for Dragon Age 2.

What can I say about BioWare throwing their hat into the MMO game? Thank God! If it’s one thing that BioWare does good it’s Storylines and RPGs. BioWare is boasting two things that has not either been fully implemented in any MMO or all MMO’s have fallen short on delivering, one is a fully voiced MMO, that’s right no reading (unless you have subtitles on). The second is that Star Wars: The Old Republic will be 100% storyline based. That means that there is no needless quests go out and grind 10 mobs or grab 10 Gryphon Stool for Dwarf beer. Every Mission will have an effect and be apart of your personal storyline. BioWare wants to make an MMO just like their RPG’s, in that they want a player to be as immersed in a universe as possible. This is the MMO I have been waiting for since I first started my Ultima Online account way back in the 90′s. If BioWare does come through with this I not only think they are going to release the best MMO of the year, but possibly the best MMO ever.

BioWare is going to not only import everything relating to the Star Wars universe, but things from the Knights of the Old Republic will also be apart of this game. If you haven’t heard much about it, you get your typical side choice of good vs evil. The Light Side of course includes 2 Jedi classes, a Smuggler class and a Trooper class. The Dark Side will include 2 Sith Classes, a Bounty Hunter class and an Imperial Agent class. Each class will have two specializations which will guide the course of which type of character you will play. This is only one part of The Old Republic as they have also introduced space battles which is more of an FPS style fight, which keeps you more in the action and less spamming macro keys. There is a bunch of information relating to The Old Repbulic and if you havent you should visit http://www.swtor.com and check it out.

Here are both the Decieved and Hope trailer’s for Star Wars: The Old Republic

I am not a fan of Guild Wars, but I know a lot of people are. Guild Wars 2 takes an interesting approach to the MMO scene with allowing for fluid class mechanics which allows for players to swap between roles during combat based on what they think is needed at the time. Also players choices in quests actually affect and change the world for everyone as well as spontaneous group interaction which stops specific spell rotations. This is definitely something different as no MMO has yet to take these simple approaches to the core game.

Guild Wars 2 is probably number 1 on the list of most anticipated MMO release in 2011. This shows that NCSoft is doing something right as they have a large core following. I have heard many good things about the first one and my curiosity may bring me to trying Guild Wars 2 out. Though with the bad taste AION left in my mouth, I can only wait and see what will become of Guild Wars 2.

Portal was a simple game. A single player roll against a single NPC, with some turrets, a fancy gun and a cube. Yet Portal turned out to be one of the greatest games and was highly revolutionary. Portal was a simple puzzle game but everyone who played it fell in love immediately. We have all hummed or enjoyed the “Still Alive” song as well as knowing that the cake is a lie, Portal left nothing but good feelings and love for cubes that have no AI whatsoever.

Now Valve is back with Portal 2, giving you the same great feel of the first one with 2 lovable and comedic robot friends to join in on the fun. This allows for 2 players to join in on Co-Op to double the fun with a symbol based mechanics that allows the users to coordinate moves. Valve is putting much in the intelligence and overall fun gameplay that has made it the company it is today. I for one enjoyed Portal as well and do believe I will enjoy Portal 2 as well. But until then, “This was a triumph, i’m making a note here, huge success, It’s hard to overstate my satisfaction, Aperture Science, we do what we must because we can……”

When the news came out that this game was going to be released millions of Blizzard fanboys came harder than an all elf orgy on their WoW private servers. The Diablo series has had a lot of fans and is looking to increase that group by a lot. Diablo III will not only have gore, tons of loot and enough clicks to kill your mouse 2 times over it also incurs a great attention to detail. This also includes a more sophisticated AI with monsters hiding in different areas waiting to mount… I mean pounce on unsuspecting players. The world of Diablo III is vast, complicated and unpredictable, this will give players not only a game they have been waiting for, but one they will enjoy as well.

What in this day an age can you say Crysis has not influenced in the FPS world. With many different game’s using the Cry Engine to games emulating the detail and ideas from Crysis makes the original not only a great game but a starting point for most games today. Crysis 2 has Nomad pinned between an invading army of vicious aliens and a psychotic paramilitary organization that want’s it’s friggen suit back. Crysis 2 brings the upgraded Nanosuit 2 which includes a sensory enhancing tactical mode which tracks enemy movements and the ability to deploy multiple power nodes like speed and strength simultaneously in order. Crysis 2 brings in a much more tactical increase upon it’s predecessor by not only giving you special powers but using them to think and find the best way to use them. With Crysis 2 you can expect Crytek to make the term “attention to detail” an understatement, more like an obsessive compulsive attention habit which keeps them up in shivers at night because one leaf doesn’t look real! Crysis 2 will not only have another amazing environment it will also include a much more buffed up AI which will force the player to act and think instead of a shooting gallery of run and gun, sorry Call of Duty players.

What can you say about the Madden franchise? It has by far been the best Football game for many years running. You could say that cornering the market and being the only game to allow licensed NFL player names and teams would help, but, Madden was outselling most other NFL games before that. Madden takes the game every year and adds new styles and features to not only help make a different game, but also, to make a more realistic and believable one. Out of all the crap games that EA likes to shoot out every year. I am happy to see that the Madden franchise is always refined and polished before being released. Not only is this probably the best sports game ever, this is also the best franchise and game EA puts out. Which is why this is number 1 on my list this year for best sports game.

The game does what it’s supposed to, by making a solid fun game for people to just sit around and play. I hope you like my picks if you agree or disagree please post your opinions below on what games you think should of won. I still remember fondly going to the Boardwalk, yea the Boardwalk if you remember those, and always playing this game. It was so fun and gave me horrible hope for a quality X-Men console game. Though until Sega’s X-Men games there wasn’t any and I know a lot of people where shocked that this never made it to console. Well, until now. Finally on December 14th and 15th Playstation 3 users and X-Box 360 users both get the chance to download this game and finally play it on home console. I for one can’t wait as I loved this game as a kid and hope maybe this will bring that love for games I had back then back it a bright shiny form of epic gooiness.

Rumors and ideas going around are pretty confident in saying that sooner or later Activision will incorporate a subscription fee to play the Call of Duty games online. This could show a large income boost for Activision or cause negative feedback which could result in the loss of money. Either way Activision makes tons of cash with those less than awesome map pack prices so there doesn’t seem to be any reason they would need too. I do, though, prefer EA and Dice’s views that map packs should and always be free. Don’t fret just yet though, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg has many times stated that Activision will never adopt a subscription based fee for any of the Call of Duty games. Let’s just hope he doesn’t pull a Steve Jobs and do exactly what they said they weren’t.

This week we have Kinect again, Silent Hill the movie...2?, Dead Space 2 Trailers, Black Ops stuff, and the dreaded Black Ops review.

Helooooooooo and welcome to this week in gaming. The day says Monday but the post is for Friday? What gives? Well I want to confuse you, thats what! Seriously though the posts are on Friday I will be doing the information for the week that happened so that’s why the date is for Monday. This week we have Kinect again, Silent Hill the movie…2?, Dead Space 2 Trailers, Black Ops stuff, and the dreaded Black Ops review.

Anyways this week we have some random information for your reading pleasure. Some interesting some meh. But! at the bottom of the page you will find my overall review for Black Ops. The Black Ops review is for the multi player, because, well who really bough this for the epic single player? I also did some playing of the zombie mode as well that I may have jotted a bit about that as well.

First! Let’s talk about how well Kinect is doing!

Microsoft Kinect

Well Kinect is already up to about 1 million buyers, all Oprah fans i’m sure. With Kinect completely blowing out Playstation move already which was released back in September, and only up to 400 thousand. We can be sure to see this little thing sticking around for a long time.

Silent Hill Movie, the Second!

The second Silent Hill movie will be directed by Michael J Bassett and will include the character Heather Mason (from Silent Hill 3). She suffers some nightmares and becomes haunted by the disappearance of her father on her 18th birthday. This will, of course, follow the trendy 3D movie trend that is just KICKING ASS IN THE BOX OFFICE!….. Well anyways if your Silent Hill fan go back into your hole and cry until this movie blows over like the first one or embrace that it could actually be good, ha… haha…. hahahahahahauhh yea I know.

Dead Space 2 Evil Fricken Girl Trailer!

If you haven’t heard that Dead Space 2 coming out, well, it is, sorry. But to get you in that right scary mood here is the new Dead Space 2 Lullaby Trailer, and all creepy girls can die.

Black Ops: There’s a soldier in all of us! Except Niro hahaha Frenchy

Well if you watch t.v. at all! you have probably seen the following commercial. This is Activision and Treyarch’s push to say that everyone is a soldier and everyone can play black ops! unless you hate lag, and bad hit boxes, and Deadgamer tking you every friggen round!!! cough… anyways back on topic. Enjoy!

Well I think that’s enough for the foreplay let’s get down and dirty and talk about some Black Ops!

Call of Duty: Black Ops Multiplayer Review

Alright for those that have been playing Black Ops, especially since day one, have probably spent their time killing kittens or dogs that happen to stray around unfortunately late at night. Well, we’ll talk about that soon. Anyways Call of Duty Black Ops by Treyarch, Infinity Ward was better!, was of course released this month and is considered the most anticipated game of the year.

Now let’s get down and dirty with the review. First let’s talk about the types of multi player maps that Black Ops offers. There are multiple base modes including the Wager Mode if you can ever actually play it, and Zombie mode. The basic multi player versions are Capture the Flag, Search and Destroy, Demolition, Headquarters, Domination, Team Deathmatch, and Free For All. Capture the Flag puts a flag in each teams base and you have to simply capture the opposing teams flag, Search and Destroy, Demolition and Headquarters all involve planting a bomb and destroying objects with a twist for each. Domination gives you three points on a map that you must capture and hold to gain points. Team Deathmatch and Free For All are your simple run around killing everything you can until the timer runs out.

I was unable to test Wager match, because well, I didn’t care. Also, I couldn’t figure out how so I gave up fast. Zombie Mode is pretty fun for about a minute then gets boring and tedious. You simple run around shooting zombies and rebuilding broken barricades while you unlock doors and find new guns. The whole point is just to survive as long as you can through the round counter until zombies finally feast on your brain.

Now we get to the good stuff, my ultimate review on Black Ops. Well what can I say the most anticipated game of the year started out as probably the most disappointing game I have ever seen. The fact no beta test was done in this day and age, in my opinion, is completely stupid and I put that more on Activision than Treyarch. The game was almost unplayable before the patch came out as lag spikes and connection losses where basically what you would expect. Also shooting someone 20 times in the back just to have them turn around and pop you in the face got very annoying. I would say honestly that whoever Treyarch testing this internally, god I hope they tested it internally, needs to seriously choke on something and die.

Now Black Ops is patched and the game is lag free and the most amazing thing I have ever seen! No, not really. All this is, is a rehash of the Modern Warfare games i’m assuming Treyarch was like Monolith to Bioware and to stupid to actually build their own game and just build something out of nothing. I have no respect for the Treyarch developers and if Infinity Ward didn’t do such a damn good job with this series Treyarch would be following in their bankrupt footsteps. Enough ranting, honestly this is nothing new or special if you want Modern Warfare with new maps and some uninteresting new features then go ahead and pick up Black Ops. It’s fun enough to keep your attention and if you enjoy playing with certain people it’ll just work. If you want a game to enjoy with the community for years on with all the love and feelings we all miss. Then pass this up. In a couple years it’ll be deader than SEGA after the Dreamcast.

Hello and welcome to this week in gaming. Every Monday i’m going to start posting different video game information relating to previews, reviews, or just general video game information for your reading delight. If you have any suggestions for next weeks video game news please feel free to PM me on the boards or harassing me on STEAM.

First we’ll start this week with some random Black Ops news.

Call of Duty: Black Ops – Females? A/S/L??

Call of Duty Black Ops will incorporate a female player in the single player campaign mode. The female is set to be voiced by Emmanuelle Chiriqui (pictured left) and will only be known as a designated number instead of an actual call sign. No news yet on whether she will be available in multiplayer co-op or any multiplayer for that fact.

Call of Duty: Black Ops – Leaked Zombie Video

A leaked video came out detailing the special Nazi zombie part of Black Ops. In Black Ops post game survival mode you can take on the role of John F Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Robert McNamara, or good ol Fidel Castro. You can travel around the Pentagon blasting hordes of viscous Nazi Zombies. Real or Fake? you be the judge because we may never know…. till the 9th.

Xbox 360 – Kinecting

Microsoft Kinect was released today, Kinect is Microsoft’s better answer the to Nintendo Wii and will include 3rd party support from multiple game developers. If you haven’t heard about, or are just simply living under a rock. The Kinect is a camera based add on for the 360 which is able to grab unassisted (no funky glowsticks like the PS3) moves of a player and translates that into the game. Though not perfect, and spazzing around like in a seizure will probably grant you more points in competitive games than actually doing the moves, Kinect is already a hit with the soccer moms of the world. Keeping their young ins tied to the T.V. for that oh so much alone time with the new pool boy, Javier. Below is a list of some upcoming games for the Kinect.

- Dance Central
- Kinect Adventures
- Kinect Sports
- Your Shape: Fitness Evolved
- Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout
- Sonic Free Riders
- Star Wars Kinect
- Kinectimals
- And so much more!!!!

That’s it for the first Week in Gaming. Plan to make it more big and grand as time goes on. Have any ideas, thoughts, suggestions, need admin?? Please forward all requests to Raven, just kidding please PM Tetra in the forums (except for the admin part), hit me up on STEAM, or leave a nifty comment below.
